作为科普读物浅显易懂，比较好读。人的行为背后往往有着脑内化学物质的影响。抑郁症、双相等等精神疾病往往是这些化学物质紊乱导致的。这套脑神经系统是通过千万年的进化得来的。然而现代人的痛苦往往源于：我们进化的速度赶不上高速发展的人类社会。但多多了解这套系统的特点，或许可以找到用魔法打败魔法的办法。不过，这部剧还是有些问题，一些结论下的很草率，比如移民到美国的人往往是多巴胺能较强，所以更具有创新和冒险精神。反例就是阿根廷，同样土地富饶，同样都是欧洲移民，为何结局不同？美国之所以成为美国影响的因素非常之多，是非常复杂的问题，想仅仅靠多巴胺一个因素归因，过于草率。
